Prime Steakhouse

Lush furnishings and touches of leopard-print fabric lend a reckless 1890s San Francisco saloon ambience to this softly lit, glittering room. We like the privacy of the high-backed booths if we’re going to indulge in oysters Rockefeller and a Roquefort-dressed New York strip or two large and luscious Australian lobster tails in Champagne butter sauce. Though the focus here is on aged prime steaks and chops cooked in an 1800 degree broiler, seafood is quite good too, notably angel hair pasta tossed with scallops, crabmeat and prawns in a silky vodka and chive cream sauce. Pass on the undercooked vegetable side dishes, however, as well as the overly sweet brandy chanterelle sauce Desserts don’t impress, and if you eat the entire 24-ounce porterhouse, you won’t have room for one anyway.
